Another day, another review! 🕺 Hey, y'all! It's been a while, but I hope you're all doing ok. Today I'm reviewing a line of hair products from a famous South Korean, Dashu. This product line caters to a specific but common challenge many of us deal with: hair loss.
If you're like me, you're no stranger to clumps of hair in your shower drain...ok that sounded disgusting, I'm sorry for the visualization I forced upon you 😳. Anyways, If you're dealing with hair loss or hair thinning, stay tuned, I will share my month-long experience with Dashu's products. So sit back, relax, and let's start this review!
My hair origin story ✨
Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed to be the next Pantene girl. I know, very ambitious. But hey, I girl got a dream. Thankfully, I've never had much to complain about in the hair department. I've always had long, healthy hair. However, when I moved to South Korea back in 2019, things started to change.
Ever since I moved to Seoul, I began to experience hair thinning and hair loss. At first, I thought it could be related to the water quality. Many of my friends and locals, told me that the water system here tends to be heavier in chemicals that can be harsher on the scalp. This of course can damage the hair's health, leading to thinning and hair volume loss.
After hearing this, I of course bought a water filter for my shower head, in hopes that my hair would feel better. Unfortunately, nothing really happened. After that, I tried other products like scalp shampoos and hair-strengthening treatments, but again nothing changed the thinning and lack of hair volume I was seeing for the past few years.
When the opportunity to test Dashu's hair loss line came through I was extremely excited to test something new. Spoiler alert, the results were positive ;) But let's not jump to conclusions. Let's get to know the brand a little bit more first.
The brand 🎤
As mentioned before, Dashu is a famous South Korean brand that offers solutions both for hair and skin. They mostly focus on men's care, but let's be honest, anyone can use these products.
The brand was established in 2008 and has continued to grow throughout the years. So much so that, in 2021 an international expansion began.
Today I'll be reviewing their famous patented hair loss line, which is composed of four different steps:
1. Anti Hair Loss Scalp Shampoo
2. Scalp Scaling Shampoo Brush
3. Anti Hair Loss Protein Treatment
4. Anti Hair Loss Herb Tonic
So without any further ado, let's start this review!
Anti Hair Loss Scalp Shampoo
Key ingredients 🔍
One thing cool about this shampoo is the formula. The list of main ingredients includes agents like biotin, niacinamide, zinc, and a collection of six natural herbs. If you're a skincare nerd like me, you know many of the benefits of these ingredients. But for those who don't, let's take a look at each one and understand why they are powerful in helping hair growth.
Biotin (aka B7 vitamin), helps improve scalp circulation, strengthen the hair follicles and increase hair volume. On the other hand, niacinamide (aka B3 vitamin) helps protect and revitalize the scalp, by being a vehicle of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles. Zinc, alongside natural herbs like rosemary that are present in the formula, help nourish and hydrate the hair, promoting hair growth in return.
Main Promises 🤔
After reading the label or this blog post, it's really easy to understand what are the goals of each product. The Dashu hair loss scalp shampoo aims to clean the scalp and reduce hair loss symptoms such as hair thinning and volume loss.
My Experience 💁
After receiving the line, I incorporated each product into my hair routine for a month. The hair loss scalp shampoo was no different, and I must say I'm very pleased with the experience.
The formula lathers up pretty well and leaves my hair feeling fresh and clean. After rising off, it doesn't strip the scalp. So good news to sensitive scalp sisters! This product will not harm you.
Also, I would like to point out that this shampoo doesn't have any weird minty perfume! Yes I know, this might be a bit minor to some of you, but many scalp shampoos smell like toothpaste!!!! I really hate it. But thankfully, Dashu's hair loss shampoo has a very natural and pleasant smell.
All in all, I only have good things to say about this shampoo. I'm not sure that I can attribute my final results to this product alone, but alongside the other three steps, the Dashu shampoo has definitely made miracles to my hair. Today, my hair has more volume, and is so shiny! I'll go more in-depth about the results in the final section, but just know that if you're losing hair, or noticing some thinning, I truly recommend giving this shampoo a try!
Scalp Scaling Shampoo Brush
Main Promises 🤔
After applying the shampoo on the scalp, comes the second step of the line: the scalp brush.
Dashu's scalp scaling shampoo brush aims to facilitate the spread of the shampoo on the scalp and provide a relaxing head massage. Such massage helps stimulate blood circulation on your scalp, improving hair regeneration in return.
My Experience 💁
All in all, I must say, that this product might be one of my favorite steps in my entire hair routine. It turned something so normal as washing my hair, into something exciting and luxurious. Now I really don't see myself washing my hair without a scalp brush. So I definitely recommend it!
Anti Hair Loss Protein Treatment
Key ingredients 🔍
After the scalp massage, comes the protein treatment. As the name suggests, the list of main ingredients includes various types of protein such as hydrolyzed keratin and hydrolyzed silk; As well as other agents like jojoba seed oil, and salicylic acid. Overall, these agents help reduce breakage, build-up, and improve the shine and elasticity of the hair.
Main Promises 🤔
This patented treatment aims to promote a healthy scalp and strengthen the elasticity of the hair. Its key ingredients aim to nourish and repair the hair for a more healthy and shiny look.
My Experience 💁
When it comes to conditioners, I'm really picky about what to use. I have long hair, and most solutions in the market are not strong enough to detangle my hair knots. I typically tend to use richer formulas like Pantene, which help repair and nourish my hair. But even so, I've noticed that in the past few years many of my go-to Pantene conditioners have become more watery and less powerful. This has forced me to use way bigger quantities of conditioner to keep my hair healthy and detangled.
When I started using the Dashu treatment, I noticed that the formula is really rich. The consistency is tick, and the ingredients are very nourishing. I end up using way less product than before, which is great because beauty is expensive!
Throughout this past month, I feel that the protein ingredients really helped improve some of the elasticity my hair lost in the past. My hair definitely feels stronger, and I do see an overall lay-on shine in my entire body of hair. If you have longer hair like me, this might be a product to consider.
Anti Hair Loss Herb Tonic
Key ingredients🔍
The last step of the hair routine is the scalp spray. This anti-hair loss tonic is composed of a collection of different ingredients, such as BHA, D-Panthenol, and a selection of nine Korean herbs. Except for Korean herbs, if you're a skincare junky, you know that BHA and Panthenol are popular ingredients in today's formulas. But are they good for you? The short answer is yes.
BHA, or beta-hydroxy acid, is an exfoliant agent that helps remove dead skin. It is most common in skincare, but when incorporate into hair products it improves scalp health by removing build-up or dandruff. D-Panthenol is a nourishing agent that helps restore moisture and soothe skin. When applied to the scalp, it helps relieve any tension or irritation.
Main Promises 🤔
The goal of the Dashu Anti Hair Loss Herb Tonic is to soothe the scalp and prevent hair loss. It is supposed to be used twice a day (morning and night) by spraying the tonic directly on the scalp and lightly massing the skin after the product is absorbed.
My Experience 💁
Because I wash my hair two to three times a week, I tend to apply this product after washing the hair. Overall, I like the cool sensation it gives on the scalp. It really helps present any form of irritation on the scalp when I dry my hair and I've noticed more volume in the areas I spray the tonic on. I think the results will only improve from this moment onward, but for one month of testing, not bad at all!
Final Rating
All in all, I only have good things to say about this line. I can't attribute one specific product to the final results, but one thing is for sure, my hair feels stronger and shiner than before. In the areas I was most self-conscious about it, like my hairline and middle part, I've noticed more volume. And I'm no longer afraid to look at my hair in the bathroom (long story short, my bathroom has very unflattering lights and made me feel like I was going bald lol 🤣)!
In terms of rating, I will give Dashu a 5/5. I'm positively overwhelmed by the results and will definitely continue to use these products in the long run. If you're facing any type of hair loss, give these products a try. I promise you won't regret it!
Also, I would like to thank Dashu for sending this lovely line, and support throughout this process. We appreciate kind brands like you!
